DEPARTMENT OF SURGERY

 

Vision:
We envision the Department of Surgery of Ospital ng Maynila Medical Center to be a:

bullet Model Department of Surgery in the Philippines
bullet Model Department of Surgery at government hospital
bullet Model in governance in a Department of Surgery
bullet Model in surgical education and training for staff (consultants, residents, medical students and parasurgical personnel)

Mission:
Considering our vision, we pledge to develop the Department of Surgery of Ospital ng Maynila such that it will:

bullet serve as a model in quality governance, service, training and research
bullet constantly provide quality service to clients consulting at the hospital, particularly the Manilans, who are in need of surgical management.
 

Goal:

bullet To provide quality surgical service to all Manilans at the lowest possible cost to the city of Manila as well as to the patients.
 

Objectives:

bullet To provide quality surgical service to all Manilans at the lowest possible cost to the City of Manilans well as to the patients.
bullet To provide quality training for its staff with the view of ensuring provision of quality service.
bullet To provide quality research among its staff with the goal of ensuring provision of quality service
bullet To conduct public health education on prevention of surgical disorders as well as on promotion and maintenance after treatment of surgical disorders.

With a general surgery residency training program accredited by the Philippine Society of General Surgeons (2003-2008)

54 in-patient hospital beds in the Surgery Charity Ward
5 in-patient hospital beds in the Surgery Infirmary Ward
2 in-patient operating rooms, Monday, Wednesday, Friday
1 out-patient operating room
Surgery emergency room
Surgery outpatient department

Average of 15 surgical consultants
Average of 15 surgical residents

With rotating medical interns and clerks (from Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila College of Medicine)
